DeGraff brings over fifteen years of experience to the position, with a background of working in both the public and private sectors. In his new role, he will be leading internal and external communications efforts to promote [Your Org]’s business goals and enhance its reputation.
DeGraff most recently held the position of Senior Director of Corporate and Media Relations for Union Pacific Railroad where he oversaw all external communications in an 11-state territory. He received praise for his expertise in story generation, communication strategies, crisis management, and media relations training.
Before Union Pacific, DeGraff spent ten years working in various state government agencies in Louisiana. From 2007-2014, as Public Information Director for the Louisiana Housing Corporation, he worked with non-profit and for-profit developers to promote the agency’s mission of creating and sustaining affordable housing. Throughout his career, DeGraff has worked with varied audiences across many industries.

This was an interesting writing exercise. It is a great way to take an outside look at your resume and frame it as what you would be bringing to a potential employer. It is also a great confidence boost to professionally brag about yourself. And of course, it is always good to stay in practice with routine public relations activities.
